Wimborne Civic Society AGM

Posted in News

Wimborne Civic Society hosts their Annual General Meeting, Tuesday 16 May 2017 at 8.00 pm for members only. Society members who are prepared to take an active part in the running of the Society would be particularly welcome. There are at present vacancies for several Committee members, especially a new programme secretary.

Alternatively, if you would be prepared to help in a significant way such as delivering copies of the Newsletter in your area, or welcoming members and visitors before meetings, do please contact a member of the Committee.

After the business session, there will be a short address by Marilyn Barber, journalist and reporter in Wimborne and the surrounding area and correspondent for the Stour and Avon magazine. The Minutes of the 2016 AGM will be available at the forthcoming AGM and will also be posted online on the Society website, www.wimbornecivicsoc.org.uk.

Next year’s programme has been put together, and the dates (always the third Tuesday of the month) are 19 September, 17 October, 21 November, with the Christmas party on Monday 11 December at the Priest’s House Museum; then 16 January, 20 February, 20 March, with the AGM on 15 May 2018. All our meetings are held in the Quarterjack Suite of the Allendale Centre, at 7.30 for 8.00 pm.

The Committee needs three, or perhaps four, new members, in particular someone to take over as programme secretary. What is needed is a new generation of people willing to join in and do things to further the work of the Society in monitoring the quality of the built environment in Wimborne and the rest of our area of benefit, and we need people to come forward in time for the AGM. The Chair would therefore ask everyone to consider suitable people who might be happy to be involved with the Society’s life, even if not yet members. If you would like to contribute in any way or if you think you know of someone else who would, then do please talk to any member of the Committee; we would be simply delighted to hear from you!
