Dear DHN members,
Thank you to all the members who took part in the DHN The Way Forward Online Survey. There were 39 respondents to the survey and here is a summary of the The Way Forward Survey results. As a result of the survey the DHN committee have considered the options for the future of DHN and this is their proposal for how to proceed: Dorset History Network a proposal for the future.
This proposal will be the main business of the AGM to be held on Saturday 18th November 2017 at the Dorset History Centre as part of the annual What’s New in Dorset Local History event. Please find attached the minutes of the 2016 AGM and the agenda for the 2017 AGM.

2017 AGM agenda: DHN Agenda AGM 2017
For the fifth What’s New in Dorset Local History event we are delighted to have a range of presentations by member societies as well as keynote speaker; Dr Rose Wallis, Senior Lecturer at University of the West of England and an expert in criminal justice and social protest in the 18th and 19th centuries. Dr Wallis is an enthusiast for her subject and is currently using her expertise and research from the Dorset archives, particularly the Quarter Sessions records, in the interpretation for the new Shire Hall project. The event will cost £10 to include a buffet lunch and will be an opportunity for networking on local history in the county. Information about the programme and booking information is available through the following document: Whats New in Dorset Local History 2017 Programme
Since the AGM will be considering important issues for the future of DHN, it is vital that as many members as possible contribute to this debate so please make every effort to attend and ensure that your society is represented by at least one member. Attendance at the AGM only is free of charge.
We look forward to seeing you on 18th November.
Chair, Dorset History Network
